Getting To and Around Hanalei

Kayak.com is a site that looks at all airlines including Travelocity-type sites

Following flights checked Feb 10, 2010...everything constantly changing

         If one sure of going, lock in reservations earlier rather than later.

          SanFran-Kauai-Hono-Kapalua-Hono-SanFran: $ 650 - $750

SanFran - Hono Round Trip Late Aug-Sept: $470 - $510

SanFran - Lihui Kauai Round Trip Late Aug-Sept: $570 - $640 

Inter-Island: $60-$70 one way

      Go Airlines has raised it fares but is still driving down Inter Island fares

      "Go" now flies in/out of  Kapalua Maui 

            very near to Kaanapali Maui of Maui Channel Swim fame

            and a 5min taxi or rental car drive to Maui Channel Swim hotels

On Kauai

      F.Y.I.   Like Kaanapali Maui, Hanalei Kauai is about an hour away from Mainland-serving airports. Unlike Maui, there are no chances of miles-long bumper-to-bumper one-lane traffic on the North Shore of Kauai as often is the case in Maui with their large visitor load from such a large number of densely spaced hotels. See "Compare Swim Spots" under "Swim Courses" page for picture

          Lihue Kauai Airport to Hanalei Village 

            Car Rental at Airport, $30-$45/day for a compact

               Public Bus: $0.75 depending on age, etc; fun, no-kidding, meet the locals

               Taxi: about $100, stuffy, no view

                      In the Hanalei Area:

            In the Village: Walking (everything 1-2 blocks away)

                                        Bicycle with basket: $12/day
